A GUIDE TO A MORE SUSTAINABLE EVERYDAY FOR STUDENTS
You know that plastic waste and greenhouse gases affect our beautiful planet, but maybe you're not sure how you can do something about it as a student? Do not worry! You have come to exactly the right place.
In this blog post, we come up with some ideas on how you, as a student, can be more sustainable despite being on a budget.
Many of the changes you can make in your life not only help the environment, but also save you money in the long run. So let's get started!
1) Hop on your bike
There are many advantages to taking the bike. Above all, you get your daily exercise in an easy and fun way. But the bicycle is also a super environmentally friendly means of transport, which is 100% CO2-neutral, which means that you do not contribute to further pollution of the environment when you transport yourself around the city.
2) Bring your own bags when shopping
When you go shopping, it can be a good idea to bring your own reusable shopping bags. By bringing your own bags, you avoid buying single-use plastic bags provided by the supermarket. These bags usually end up in landfills or worse, in the river, the bush or the sea.
Pro tip: Leave them on your bike or in your everyday backpack. That way, you always have them on you and therefore don't forget them.
3) Choose carpooling
Is your destination not on the bus route? It can happen, and you are therefore forced to take the car.
However, you can still do this in an environmentally friendly way. You can choose to use carpooling. Carpooling makes it possible to fill the car with passengers who are going the same way as you - or part of the route. Here in Denmark, we have the GoMore concept, which works really well. Carpooling makes it possible to reduce costs per kilometer driven, as well as reducing one's CO2 footprint.

4) Reduce your wardrobe
By reducing the amount of clothes you own and making what you have last longer, you help the environment by reducing the demand for new ones, and you save money at the same time! For example, do you really need a new top when you already have 10? It can be a good idea to buy better quality clothing, as this often lasts longer and is usually made more locally, which reduces shipping emissions during transport.
5) Use public transport
Sometimes the bike is not always practical if, for example, you have to go further or the weather does not allow it.
In this case, it may be a good idea to use public transport. Use buses and trains if possible. This is a great way to travel and still more environmentally friendly than taking the car.
6) Shop at thrift stores
We know that buying newly produced clothes creates more demand, and unfortunately the fashion industry is responsible for a large part of the harmful greenhouse gases that we see in our atmosphere.
But if you need new clothes, why not consider shopping at thrift stores? This saves you money and also reduces the demand for new clothes.
You can also consider donating to these thrift stores yourself. Although you may have grown tired of your floral dress, there may well be others who could benefit from it. In this way, you can both help the environment and the charities.
